See here? You can do the shiny logo reflection in MS Word now. That means it's way played. So you can stop doing it on all of your logo designs and websites. Please.

Last November, I attended a number of presentations given by folks from the software company everyone loves to hate. Every one of them seemed to be using a Powerpoint theme with that overused mirror effect in it.
I don't remember the contents of the presentations, but I sure remember how awful the Powerpoint version of that effect looked: it mirrored everything around the baseline, so (of course) anything with a descender looked like absolute crap. I'm surprised your lowercase p didn't end up that way.

Dropshadow gets my vote for the next one, an effect for the times. All floating, untethered, in a state of flux, subject to change and vaporous. Go dropshadow!
