Army Art
The Army's new spot bears a bit of a resemblance to the Czech Army ad, in particular in the choice of music. Personally, (and I hate to admit this, being an Army brat) I think the Czech ad trumps ours hands down. It speaks without the flowery prose. And if you're going with that sort of epic and grandiose copy, get a better VO - maybe Sam Elliot or Schwartzkopf. This guy is anemic.

Well, the US Army ad is for those who want to talk and the Czech ad is for those that want to act. The Czech ad is dark, dangerous, exciting. The US ad is very... diverse (men/women/minorities). The Czech ad says if you're not superhero material, you need not apply. I want to apply!
On a side note, an army brat? Really?

Yes, pretty similar, musically. I didn't have a problem with the copy, except that maybe there was too much of it. Still, if you're recruiting, I think it's smart to have some verbal expression of the benefit. While enlisting has an emotional component I'd hope there's some rational thought involved. Did I just have an account service moment? On the diversity thing, we just witnessed a boot camp graduation ceremony and were surprised at the lack of diversity in that particular group. Probably a fluke.

I'm Czech and military fan :) We cant have so much diversity as we're mainly one ethnic, but there are women in our army too, mostly in our army field hospital (it's in Afghanistan still, or it was when i checked the news). And what You probably didn't notice: those men in yellow suits in picture directing the truck, that's our anti-chemical anti biological unit. You don't have to be superhero there. You just need to be a smart guy :) anyway... when was the US army ad published? But it's true US army has more toys to show... those tanks in Czech spot are well upgraded and modernized Soviet T72 tanks. We haven't got more than a battalion of them.

There's nothing like glorification of war! As a 30 year old woman and veteran of the US Army I despise the false pretense the ads always give. And that US ad is horrible. I completely agree about the VO! Stop yakkin' and do something!
