For all the hate that the Hummer gets, I don't think nearly enough vitriol has been directed at this target, just as deserving, just as expensive and just as much a gas hog.

Perhaps, but the Corvette doesn't pretend to be any kind of utility vehicle.
It's eye candy, it's fast and fun to drive (it really is, I've driven one) and it never pretended to be otherwise. It's a toy, really.
The Hummer is marketed as an off and on-road all-purpose vehicle when in reality it is an incredibly wasteful means of conveying anything or anybody. You can barely park the fucking thing for christssakes!

Yeah, Brian - but at least a Hummer conveys more than two people.
I saw a disabled Corvette yesterday blocking traffic. I laughed at him.
