Oil ? That's Just Part of Our Name
Whether it's BP, Shell, Chevron, Exxon or Mobil, they've all adopted the "we're trying so damn hard not to be in the oil business" approach. It's getting tired and it rings very hollow. I'd like to see someone break this mold and stop sucking up to the shifting winds of the fickle public. We know what you do. Quit hiding.
Just come out and say it, "Hey! You drive a car? You fly on planes? You like your home warm in winter? Then you can thank us, 'cause we've got you by the balls!"

BP may be less trite, but no less insincere.
Perhaps these corporations’ advertising should contain legal disclaimers. Booze must super: Drink responsibly. Cigarettes have warning labels. Political ads must acknowledge who really paid for the announcement. Maybe these guys should be required to carry a title reading: Paid for by monolithic oil corporation that really doesn’t give a shit about your well-being.

I agree with your fan club JP, but don't blame big oil, blame the Gore Train for running them over. We didn't have the pompous "green" atmosphere looming over the oil companies until someone shat on them for fueling the world with a commodity we desperately depend on.
