They actually switch out the photo a lot. I've seen everything from hotties to geriatrics. I wonder if they're deliberately targeting audiences or just throwing shit out there.
Since this is a direct-response campaign, designed to grab leads and nothing else, I'm betting these guys do multivariate testing and are using exactly the startling face photos that people respond to with the highest click-through rates. As silly as it is, slight changes in banner design can lift responses by 10x or more.
Apparently there's a difference between what we say we like and what we respond to -- in this case, a hot face.
Back when we were kids, the advertising people told us that "in the future" we'd all be free from disease and living in peace, flying around with our own jetpacks. The future is now...and we're still waiting.
